Geninne’s New Casa

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

These sneak peeks at Geninne’s new home (being built by her husband!) are SERIOUSLY drool-worthy.  I thought her current home was gorgeous, but this is incredible.  What a view!  Check out more images here on her Flickr.

Mikkel Vang

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Wonderful, inspiring work from photographer Mikkel Vang.  His work has such richness and texture that I find visually haunting.  The styling is also impeccable.

I can’t stop looking through his website.  Found via inchmark.

Vistors at our Window

Friday, June 25th, 2010

We’ve had quite the array of visitors at our kitchen window’s bird feeder lately… chickadees, sparrows, golden finches, red finches, cardinals, tufted titmouse, even the larger birds that really can’t fit in the feeder (bluejay, mourning doves, and grackles).  There has been one guest, however, that is comical to see, although not so very welcome (since he eats all the food!).  Our indoor-only cats have been very, very busy keeping an eye on things!

(ADDED: to those interested in the feeder, I bought it from Fosters and Smith!)

Peanut Butter Cookies

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

I just came home from a long, stressful day at work, and all I want are cookies… and we don’t have any store-bought on hand.  However, I find baking to be very cathartic so I don’t mind getting a bit of flour on me right now.  These peanut butter cookies from Smitten Kitchen should do the trick!

So excited to find a wonderful ceramic designer via Design*Sponge today!  Cynthia Vardhan’s work is so delicate, with tiny patterned details.  I’d love to own one of her pieces.  Check out her site here.

Mav’s Must-Do Summer List

Monday, June 21st, 2010

I love Mav’s recent post on 3191 Miles Apart with her list of “Must-Have, Must-Do, Must Feel List” for Summer.  Like her, there are so many things I have to do during the summer months for it really to feel like summertime.  It got me thinking about my must-have to do’s for the next three months (ugh, actually only 2 since June is nearing the end… this year has to slow down!).  They are (in no particular order):

Eat the best salad on earth (*shown above)
Have picnics
Go to the beach
Eat lots and lots of watermelon
Drink homemade lemonade
Garden with a big floppy hat
Go for hikes
Take late night walks around the neighborhood
Spur of the moment ice cream runs to my favorite place, and drive home with the windows down
Make pizzas on the grill
Listen to “peepers
Vacation on Cape Cod
Sleep with the windows open
Watch the sunset
Get really excited to hear the ice cream truck (I still do!)
Sit out on the back porch at night with my husband and watch the fireflies
Listen to a thunderstorm
Go to the White Mountains of New Hampshire
Have a summer reading list
Go to my local farm
Drink margaritas
Go camping
Swim often
Get a golden, sun-kissed tan
Eat fresh and in-season strawberries

What are your favorite summer must-do’s?

Van Rossum Bookstore Display

Friday, June 18th, 2010

A gorgeous and sumptuous paper window display for Pia Jane Bijkerk’s new book, Amsterdam: Made by Hand.  I still have to request her previous book from my local library, but I will surely be reading her second as well!
