Today I finalized my membership to AS220 (a fantastic non-profit community arts space in Providence, RI); specifically I’ll be a member of the Print Shop. I’ll be able to reserve time to use their Vandercook press, and I cannot tell you how excited and happy I am about this. Although I own a small table top press, to be able to use a gorgeous press like a Vandercook for professional and personal projects will be a dream. Secondly, I really wanted to join a cooperative space like this because although I am a little timid to meet the over 300 other members, I think it will be great for me to meet other printers and be part of a community of artists. They also have screenprinting, intaglio, and etching facilities as well so I’d love to take a few workshops in other mediums. I already have a few freelance projects lined up and ready, so with this membership I am eager and ready to get my fingers inked up again. Last year was quite dismal for me creatively and I’m very much looking forward to the new experiences that await me here and sharing them with you!
