I’m very excited to announce that The Brocade Blackbird and I will be sharing a booth at the SoWa Open Market at 460 Harrison Avenue in Boston! Dates of our attendance are August 7th & 28th, September 4th & 25th, and October 9th. If you’re in the New England area, please do drop by to say hello on one of those dates… we’d love to meet you!

Last Tuesday, my husband and I had the pleasure of being models for our friend Lara’s photography class (Lara is a co-owner of Studio Nouveau). It was a little intimidating at first, staring into each others eyes and kissing countless times in front of the entire class, and in downtown Boston no less. But my husband said later on that it felt like we were dating again, and it honestly was a lot of fun. The biggest treat of all was seeing Lara’s amazing work from that day; the photos of us are stunning and mean so much to us (especially since a lot of our wedding photos didn’t come out the way I had hoped). I basically want to frame every single one of these… I don’t know how I’ll choose just a few. Listen to me, if you’re in the New England area and you need a photographer, you need to look at Studio Nouveau!

I am seriously in love with these cards from Burnthebook (via Oh So Beautiful Paper). They’re getting me excited for the Edge Painting class I’m taking at AS220 this Friday!

Love, love, love this set of dishware from Anthropologie. Wish I had an excuse for new dishes!

Saturday was such a fun day! I had friends call and invite me last minute to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and so I made a change of plans to go with them. I went a little crazy with my iPhone taking photos, but I’m so glad I did! I got such inspiration from color, pattern, and composition and most of all, had a wonderful time with friends.

It’s been decided! We’re doing a one night get-away to stay with our friends down Cape this weekend and we both can’t wait (we had such a great time last year!). It’s going to be a super warm, sunny, summery weekend and the Cape is the best place to be… but especially with best friends.

Hope you get to do something summery and fun this weekend!

Haven’t done too much gardening this summer, but I’m still taking time to enjoy the flowers. This week I noticed how beautiful everything was just after a thunderstorm, with rain drops glistening on every bloom.

I know it’s been done a million times before, but I will never tire of a cake in a glass-enclosed cake stand with tiny pendant flags. Never.

Nice packaging from Pleasant River Soaps in Maine. Some things I have to buy handmade, and a good soap (without artificial fragrances, preservatives, or animal products) is one of them!

Don’t forget! The first of two Business Card Workshops I’ll be teaching will take place this Monday, July 25th in the AS220 Print Shop in Providence, RI. Both are single-day business card classes and students will ahead of time either submit their one-color business card design, or choose from the three templates given. We’ll be covering making your own polymer plates as well as printing your cards on the Vandercook press. For only $80 you will leave with 250 freshly printed letterpress business (or calling) cards.
*Make sure you sign up by tomorrow, Tuesday the 19th, and send me your file so I can prepare the designs for platemaking.
Hope you can join us for either this Monday’s or August 27th class!
For more classes at the AS220 Printshop, please go here.
