Really honored to be named as the February Business of the Month with the Bridges to Business program at IINE. I’ve been working closely with Bridges to Business for a few months now and they’ve been incredibly supportive and helpful of my business. I couldn’t have gotten to where I am today without them – a huge thank you to them!

Here’s a project I wrapped last month with the sweetest couple! Nina & Ken wanted a modern save-the-date that focused on typography. We wanted to make sure that the type conveyed an elegant but fun event. The design was printed in a smooth charcoal grey, and the couple finished the sealed envelopes with a custom return address stamp with calligraphy by Li Ward (from Fat Orange Cat Studio) and a Chinese double-happiness stamp brought back to the couple from the bride’s parents trip to China (unfortunately not shown). It was really refreshing to just focus on the type and work on a project with like-minded & friendly people!

As someone who works with brides and in the wedding industry, I am absolutely pining for the East coast to have an event like The Cream (formerly know as Hitched). There are far too many gaudy and tacky wedding expos (I for one, attended an expo as a bride six years ago and it was a waste of my time and money); the world needs more events for creative, talented people/companies to hook up with newly engaged couples. Wishing and hoping for a similar event here in New England. The Cream just went to Austin (and is due in LA on March 1st!); so inspired by The Cream/Hitched in the past few years … getting to the point of wondering how much work it would be to try to organize one myself…

This past Saturday was a real treat for me. I recently joined LGNE and my first outing with the group was to The Printing Office of Edes & Gill, a 18th century working print shop. Edes and Gill were the proprietors of The Boston Gazette and Country Journal, and The Boston Gazette became one of the most influential newspapers in colonial America. The shop’s director and print master, Gary Gregory, was a wealth of printing knowledge (as well as knowing about Boston’s printing history). Edes & Gill has two presses, an antique wooden rolling press for intaglio and an English common press. We were able to observe the printing process and print ourselves on the large English common press – what an experience!

The shop will be fully open in April and is located on the Freedom Trail, in the North End. If you’re in the area, you definitely have to stop in and say hello. Gary has invested so much love, time and money into the shop and it’s a wonderful experience for anyone interested in printing or in the history of Boston.

Salt Water Farm in Maine looks like such a respite to me. The last few weeks have been good, just very hectic… and this place looks like heaven; to be able to take a weekend to slow down, make really good food around good people in a beautiful setting. Would really, really love to take a bread making class there someday. It’s been forever since I slowed down a bit to make a loaf of bread!

I’m pleased to announce three more stores that carry my letterpress products! Derby Farm Flowers & Gardens (Arlington, MA), The Curatorium (Providence, RI), and Inkwell Modern Handmade Boutique (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada) all have an assortment of note cards, prints & gift sets. They’re all wonderful stores, so if you happen to be near one of them definitely drop in!
