Colleen’s Shower – Invitations

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

This weekend was the first of many wedding events for my wonderful and dear friend, Colleen.  I’ve been waiting for this event to not be a big secret anymore so I could share the invitation with you all!  We decided to go with a fuschia pink and antique gold to match the colors of the room where it was held at Upstairs on the Square.  I wanted to keep it simple but elegant to reflect the venue, and also picked a flourishy typeface to echo Colleen’s calligraphy.

Tomorrow I’ll share my images with more details from the shower, including my little cupcake flags and Colleen’s cousin Sarah’s custom clutch bag favors.

Royal Wedding

Friday, April 29th, 2011

I woke up extra early this morning to go for a run before work, but quickly realized the Royal Wedding was already started on tv.  I couldn’t miss it and sat in my pj’s and with a good cuppa on the sofa watching all the coverage.  I’m such a romantic and dreamer and absolutely love this stuff… wish I could sit and watch the tv all day!

I am so happy for the couple, who truly look like they are in love.  Wishing them a merry congrats and everyone a lovely weekend!

Caitlin & Alex – Save the Dates

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

I recently finished a letterpress project for my cousin and dear friend and I had such a great time working with her.  Caitlin and I first decided the color scheme for the wedding and then went onto designing her Save-the-Dates.  She’s getting married at a historical inn in New England and she really wanted a vintage feeling conveyed.  I found an old sleigh ride illustration and redrew it (complete with top hats for the men in the sleigh!) and matched it with a hand-drawn antique serif for the type.  We went with a colonial blue ink and envelope, and finished it with hand-cut oatmeal and cream liners.  I had such a nice time working on these, I can’t wait to start designing and printing Cait & Alex’s wedding invitations!

Tea Bridal Shower

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

White can be such a striking color and is the strength of this elegant white bridal tea shower styled by Bo Peep Productions for 100 Layer Cake.  As a mega tea drinker (I love a good cuppa!) I could have a tea party for any occasion and be utterly over-the-moon.  Love the tea bar!

Wedding Yellow

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

I’m really not a “punchy” color person, nor much of a yellow person, but the more yellow in weddings I see, the more I like it.  Love this bright yellow in Laura & Adeel’s wedding in Columbus.  Isn’t that cake fantastic?

Ice Cream Reception

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

Not only am I a huge ice cream fan (just ask my co-workers; we have a JP Licks only a few doors away from us… uh-oh, is right!), but I love themed dessert table ideas.  An ice cream bar at your wedding reception is so cute… I just hope it doesn’t melt!

Watercolor Invitations

Monday, April 11th, 2011

I’ve been looking at inspiration from different calligraphers for a Save the Date project (*more on that in a few weeks!) and came across this project by Jenna Hein of Love, Jenna & Swiss Cottage Designs.  Love the simplicity and the quietness the watercolor lettering (and gorgeous liners) convey.  I heart Jenna’s work so much!

Kate Spade Wedding Belles

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Kate Spade just introduced a wedding clothing and accessories line and it’s super cute!  Classic dress styles and lots of fresh colors that pop against white dresses.  LOVE the accessories.

Ashley & Troy’s Invitations

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Last month I was able to work with a colleague and friend on letterpress printing her wedding invitations.  Ashley designed the invite and all of the components and I love how the quirky, hand-drawn type really sets the mood for their wedding which is sure to a fun, memorable celebration.  The invitation is mounted inside a diagonal enclosure, with a letterpressed cover and a pocket for the RSVP and other materials.  The theme of the wedding is art and music, and the invitations were sent out with a CD inside the pocket enclosure as well.  I was really pleased with how Ashley’s design printed and can’t wait to hear all about her wedding details (*I know of some but I think she wants them to be a surprise for her guests!).

If you’re interested in more of Ashley’s design work, please contact her here.

Cyclist Wedding

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

I have quite a few cyclist friends who would love this idea… getting all of your wedding guests to participate in a giant bike ride!  This wedding looks like such a fun time.
