I’m Still Here!

Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

I’m alive, I promise!  I hate that I haven’t blogged in well over a month (!!) but I had to stop in briefly to tell you that I’m here, I haven’t deserted the blog, but I have been literally non-stop busy for weeks now.

Pretty much since I decided to sign on the studio space, everything all happened at once.  In no particular order, here are some wonderful things that have happened since we spoke last: I got a press (a Vandercook SP-15), I moved into my studio space, I’ve been printing & designing like mad for NSS, I’ve been doing lots of custom work.  Not so great things: I got the dreaded norovirus (twice in one week, no less), haven’t slept much, eaten much, exercised, or been able to see family & friends for weeks because of my schedule.  I don’t even want to count the days till NSS, but I know it’s in less than two weeks!  Holy cannoli, where did the time go?!

There’s so much I want to share (the press move, setting up the studio, NSS stuff) so since I have a mountain of work to do, to be continued!  For now, here’s a few snippets of the past few weeks via Instagram (still the best way to see what I’m up to).

Hope you’ve all been well!
– Colleen

Big News

Friday, March 22nd, 2013

I can’t believe it… something I’ve wanted for such a long time is actually happening – today I signed a lease on a studio space for Letter & Lark!  I had an amazing opportunity to get a spot in the newly created Mother Brook Arts and Community Center in Dedham, MA; it’s a retired 1920′s elementary school that is being turned into studio spaces for artists and workshops.  I was able to go their first open house night and instantly fell in love with the building, the organization, and a particular space.  I’ve been thinking of doing this for a while now and it never really seemed like the right time or the right space – this time it just all fell into place.  I’m moving in on April 1st (of course a month before NSS!  No time like the present, right?) and it’ll be a while till I’m fully settled and have all the equipment I need.  Just trying to take a moment to realize this is really happening… for now, it’s time to celebrate!

MBACC lease!

Stay tuned, I’m hoping to have an open house sometime this summer to welcome everyone to the new space!

That’s a Wrap!

Thursday, December 20th, 2012

After multiple holiday fairs (including three weeks straight in December of full weekends) I am finally done – phew!  Definitely the busiest fair season I’ve ever done and the constant packing/unpacking, loading/unloading the car got old pretty quick.  However, I met the nicest people and everyone had such kind things to say about Letter & Lark and the work that I do, and that made it totally worth it.

Bazaar Bizarre Boston Winter Fair

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

This weekend will be my last holiday fair and the one I’m most excited to be a part of – Boston’s Bazaar Bizarre!  I have to admit, for such a long time (even before I started to do letterpress) one of my goals was to someday get into the Bazaar Bizarre Winter Fair.  I’ve entered before and didn’t get in, so when I got the acceptance email for this year – I was beyond excited.  It’s not everyday that you get to accomplish something you’ve wished for over the last few years!

I’ll once again be sharing a booth with the incredibly talented Laura from Paper Taxi, and I really hope you can stop by if you’re in the area.  The fair is a huge event and has turned into a Boston handmade & unique crafts shopping tradition.  It lasts from 12–6 pm and is located at the very cool Cyclorama in the South End of Boston.  I really hope to see you there!

Holiday Events

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

Thought I should let you all know of two big holiday events starting this week that Letter & Lark is a part of:

The first, started today and is the 2nd year that I’m participating in: Poppytalk Handmade!  Super excited to be a part of their “Double Month Holiday Market” and am so honored to be in such good company with so many talented craftsman and studios, and always love working with Jan & Earl.

The second, is local to me and will start this Friday, the 23rd and will be my first year being a part of: Craftland!  I have been hoping that Craftland would show my work for some time now, so I was incredibly excited to be chosen for their well known month-long holiday show.

These two events are running during the rest of November and throughout December, but I have lots more event happening in December on particular dates… stay tuned or head over to my shop for more details (*listed at top in banner)!
